Special Interest Sessions (SIS)
Special Interest Sessions will discuss work that is underway or recently completed regionally, nationally or internationally. Organisers must describe how a chosen set of speakers would address key aspects of important topics – achievements, problems, trends, technology developments, policies, etc. These sessions are designed to be interactive with different opinions and perspectives to be considered.
Strategic Future Sessions (SFS)
Strategic Future Sessions must address a forward-looking “blue-sky” type of opportunity or problem. They may make a case for launching new ITS initiatives. These highly interactive dialogue sessions look forward and review options, problems, technical barriers, etc. rather than reporting on work that has been completed. Be creative, be daring and – above all – be original! Push the boundaries of ITS or challenge conventional thinking.

Review Procedure
Due to the increased competition for slots, to ensure as a wide a range of SIS topics, and to give an equal opportunity to all potential session submitters, highly qualified reviewers from the European Programme Committee (EPC) will use these criteria to select sessions submitted on time and in the specified format:
- Relevance to the overall Congress theme and chosen topic
- Emphasis on a highly interactive format rather than a series of presentations
- A discussion topic not featured in previous Congresses
- Proposals tackling a broad area rather than a single project
- A diverse and gender-balanced mix of moderators/speakers
- At least three confirmed speakers coming from different countries and not from the same organisation
- A very clear indication of what individual speakers will contribute to the discussion
- SFS must additionally describe the future and strategic aspects of one of the designated topics and propose an innovative, informal, and highly interactive session format.
